Join Us for Our More Than Once Party!
In Minnesota we have much to celebrate when it comes to environmental sustainability, especially in our vibrant #reuse, #rental and #repair sectors. In fact, Minnesota’s reuse economy is booming and responsible for 46,000 direct jobs and an estimated $4,000,000,000 in gross sales annually. In support of all of this good work, we’ve rebuilt our website to raise awareness of this important part of our economy and of the local, eco- and budget friendly resources Minnesotans have for reuse, rental and repair.
Years in the making, our new website easily and efficiently connects consumers to local reuse, repair and rental businesses around Minnesota. We invested in state-of-the-art search functions, comprehensive listings, and mobile readiness so we can continue to grow the reuse economy in Minnesota. It’s the only resource like it in the country. Spend some time poking around!
Now that the new website is ready for launch, we’re having a party at Lake Monster Brewing on October 12th from 5 PM to 7 PM. All are invited for a beverage (first one’s on us) and fun. Zero waste hero Congressman Keith Ellison will join us. DJ Dan of Solar Bloom (record curator at A Greener Read) will be spinning vinyl and have records for sale. The delicious K-Town Street Foods will be selling fare onsite and you can mingle with our sponsors Tech Discounts, Better Futures Minnesota, Minnesota Computers for Schools, Vibrant TechnologiesRSP Architects.
Speaking of our sponsors…one of the amazing things about the Minnesota reuse economy is the innovative ways that positive environmental impact is leveraged to support important social missions.
Tech Discounts protects the environment from e-waste by providing customers with refurbished electronic equipment sourced from their partner organization, responsible recycler Tech Dump. They also help people extend the life of their gadgets through repair. On the social mission side, by selling refurbished electronics, Tech Discounts creates reliable jobs that provide dignity and a pathway to independence for people with barriers to employment.
Better Futures Minnesota deconstruction services recycles or reuses 75 to 85 percent of all building materials they encounter on a project. Much of the debris they collect is resold through their Reuse Warehouse. They also provide appliance repair, property maintenance and janitorial services. All of these businesses support their integrated programs to help men rebuild their lives and create a new future for themselves, their families and their communities.
Minnesota Computers for Schools reduces e-waste and extends the life of useful equipment by refurbishing it and selling it to schools for a highly discounted price – giving thousands of students each year increased access to the technology necessary for success. Reuse is central to their mission. Donated equipment that does not meet the requirements of schools and educational nonprofits is sold or recycled. The money raised from sales of unusable technology allows them to purchase components so that students receive the best technology solution possible.
Vibrant Technologies is a leading IT reseller. They’ve got a warehouse teeming with millions in server, storage and networking inventory they’ve diverted from landfills, plus a professional tech center and expert staff all under one roof. Vibrant acquires about 25,000 pounds of IT equipment per month and 95% of it is pegged for re-use. The remaining scrap is ethically disposed of with our certified, responsible, landfill-free partners.
RSP Architects is an international design and engineering firm with a commitment to sustainability, smart spaces, and people. Their headquarters in the historic Grain Belt Brew House in Minneapolis exemplify their approach to conservation and the environment.
