This session will answer the question, “Why would an operating business need a business plan?”

The short answer is planning can help existing companies grow faster. A recent study about the growth of 11,046 companies found that a business plan improved business performance by 30%. Interestingly, this same study found that planning benefited existing companies even more than it benefited startups!

In this session, we will review how to develop a one-page plan for your business. You'll learn how your business plan can assist you with making sound decisions, defining your approach to marketing, hiring the right people, and improving revenue streams.

Presented by Art Shore, MB Mentors:

Art began his career as a sales rep for a large consumer products organization. He was promoted into sales management and later transitioned into training and development. He went on to become the global head of Learning & Development for two multi-national organizations.

In 1995 Art started his own independent training consultancy with one client and grew it to a multimillion-dollar business. Clients spanned numerous industries including telecom, broadband, consumer products, retail, finance, pharma, marketing services, among others.

Art officially retired in 2016 but has kept busy by teaching at Normandale, Minneapolis and Century Colleges. In 2020, he co-founded MBMentors.org a Minnesota 501(c)3, all volunteer, non-profit organization helping entrepreneurs and small business owners start, run, and grow their ventures. To date, MBMentors has worked with over 700 clients and has 25 volunteer members.

Reuse Minnesota was founded in 2012 and is a member-based nonprofit that supports repair, resale, and rental businesses, bringing visibility to the reuse sector as a means to lower our state's impact on the environment.
