Learn to weave a rug out of upcycled clothing and textiles using a technique requiring no equipment except scissors! The process uses a hand-weaving technique. You will learn how to cut textiles, how to start weaving, and have some time to work on your rug.

Precut fabric will be provided to get started but you are also welcome to bring textiles that you wish to upcycle. Tee shirts and knit fabric work best but old sheets, jeans, and pant material can also be used. Sweaters, sheer, or any fabric that will unravel easily when cut are not usable. If you want to bring textiles to use, cutting them into 2” wide strips is helpful (1” wide if thick material such as jeans).

Note: Materials we are providing for the class come from a pet-friendly home. Participants will be sitting or standing during the class.

Funding for this class is provided by Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's Environmental Assistance Grant Program.
