Pedal to the metal: Sewing machine basics

Get to know your sewing machine and start stitching with confidence! Whether you're brand new to sewing or just need a refresher, this hands-on workshop will guide you through the basics of using your sewing machine—from threading to stitching and everything in between.

In this workshop, you’ll receive one-on-one guidance and learn how to:

• Thread your machine (top thread + bobbin)
• Understand the buttons, knobs, and moving parts
• Sew straight lines, curves, and corners
• Troubleshoot common issues

This workshop is perfect for beginners, or anyone who just needs a refresher on how to use their sewing machine! Please note: You must bring your own sewing machine. No machines will be provided.

What to bring:

• Your sewing machine and any parts or accessories
• Manual (if available)

• Monday, May 19 | 1-4pm at Hosmer Library | 347 East 36th Street, Minneapolis

Sessions will be offered during the workshop timeframe in 25-minute time slots, giving you personalized, one-on-one attention. You are welcome to attend with one other family member, child, or friend.
